Wellness

Stress

Wellness means terms like “flexibility, good state”. It was firstly used by Dr Dunn in the year of 1961. It is an alternative lifestyle of a person knowing their self and life better and providing to increase the quality of life in every mean and aiming to obtain self-sufficiency. To obtain optimum health again each one has important six sizes within itself. These are; Physical (bodily), mental (intellectual), emotional (psychological), spiritual, social and environmental components.

Wellness  and  Stress

Stress, according to the individual’s adaptation abilities is the reactions they give to the difficulties they face. It is a relative concept because something that is a source of stress to someone may not be to another person. Unfortunately, our day is an inevitable part of the conditions. There are two types of stress. From these Positive Stress brings good results. When trying to reach an aim it gives the strength to resist and energy against the difficulties the individual comes across.

Negative stress brings out the sense of inadequacy, helplessness, hopelessness and disappointment that causes the individual to loose their self-esteem.  Zero stress will be a life without excitement, like a vegetable life. However, stress that exceeds the limit completely disrupts the physical and spiritual balance causing it to be very dangerous. Because in this case, the individual is using extreme energy and is exhausted.

A person searches for adaptation in a work environment. Not being adaptation is a source of stress. Because a person is working, they will find a presentation to retain. This is more common generally in countries with unemployment and in the economic crisis periods. In relationships between individuals the most important decisive item is the form of leadership. In the duration of the recruitment process, the administrators always pick us. However, in our decision making process we need to be careful to also look at the administrators we will work with and our colleagues, not just looking at the career and pay. Because the time we spend in our shifts, can be more than the time we spend with our family.

All workplaces have money, promotion and other boundaries. To reach these limited opportunities, the individuals may compete with each other. This competition is an important source of stress.  Competition, leads the individual to develop but excessive competition can make the workplace uninhabitable. For every individual working in the company, the planned career policy is another factor that causes stress on the person. When making a promotion, retirement, transfer decision there should be criteria in the administrators’ hand that shows that it will be acted rationally towards everyone.  It is like this in enterprises. Also, the physical features of the company; heat, noise, light, pollution etc. If the physical conditions are in an unacceptable level in terms of the employee, then it is an source of stress.

There are stress sources that are caused by the individual and the situation the individual is in. People show behaviors that are connected with their personality. To manage stress we firstly need to fully know ourselves. Habits like drugs, alcohol, smoking, coffee and television can actually turn into situations that cause the negativities that are prevented for us to see. We need to not escape from the truth, but to face them, to understand the reason of the cause and to eliminate it. When the person is left alone with their presence in situations like meditation, it is possible for the individual to know their self-better and to control their stress, in fact it is even possible to eliminate the negative stress. Also, it is very effective for the person to deal with a hobby they are interested in to keep stress away.

The individual being in good condition physically will facilitate the resistance to stress. People that are in good condition, physically and mentally, put against stress easier that occurs from life. For this reason after waking up the stretches done, the routine exercises (if possible jogging in open air and/or sport for at least 30 minutes), a cold shower, a strong breakfast to start the day, to smile, to see the full side of the glass, will make the person more resistant towards stress.

To increase our living quality it is clear that firstly basic change needs to be with us as in, in our minds. Like Heraclitus from the old Greek philosophers said “The only thing that does not change is change itself”. The words “refresh and repeat” that form the Far East’s basis of philosophy, advises that change needs to be systematized. When East Philosophy is said generally, they are meaning ancient Indian, Japanese and Chinese philosophy tradition.

Wellness is seen as a lifestyle in developed North America and Europe. This shows that it has been discovered again by the western exhausted minds of eastern serenity. As people little or less earn money under competitive free market conditions, they are aware of losing their physical and spiritual health and for this reason, they want to gain their old health back with natural methods that do not have side effects.

One of the most important items of Wellness perspective is holistic as in holistic ( physical, mental and spiritual ) health. There will always be something missing if we do not approach ourselves, situations and healing if we are sick holistically. The best way is to naturally take necessary measures without our physical and spiritual balance being destroyed.

It is best to be aware of the most important value, which is our health to not allow it to be lost, therefore to own the Wellness perspective.
